Well, i was goofing around with some equipment, and i realized if you can do extreme macros with a point and shoot..
I purchased a macro lens (this one http://www.amazon.com/Opteka-Professional-PowerShot-Digital-Camera/dp/B000VZJED8/ref=sr_1_5?ie=UTF8&s=photo&qid=1266082606&sr=1-5 ) It's $25-$30 including shipping. Anyway once you get it, hold it in front of your camera while the camera is at the highest capable optical zoom, also set the camera in macro. If you have the capability i suggest you raise the F-stop to F.13 or so, but my point and shoot only goes to F.8 so..it'll do. So there you go, start snapping pictures. It won't compare to the SLR reversed lens technique, but it's better then just macro mode.
Here's my results with my SX120 IS.

Phidippus Audax

Platycryptus californicus
