The kids and I hiked up Angel's Landing on Saturday. The worst part was motivating the 10 year old up to where the difficult part of the hike is. Once we got to the fun part she needed no more motivation. I didn't think she was going to make it because I was pretty sure I was going to beat her. Just kidding but she aggravates me on hikes. If she is scrambling over rock she does fine but if we are just hiking a steady pace the girl needs a rest every two seconds unless I can light a fire under her hind end.
So this is my first attempt at embedding a slide show.

We are planning on doing Observation Point next. Sarah says she is not going.

Terrific! That's a fun place! Looks like everyone had a good time.

Well, it is a big step up in endurance... Unless she did really well on Angels Landing, I wouldn't make her go along on that one, necessarily. Keep in mind, too, that it is mostly just a very long, steep walk on a sidewalk. The payoff at the end is terrific, but the motivation factor... :angryfire:

Depends.... Observation Point from Zion Ponderosa is a cake walk. :2thumbs:
That's how I always do OP..... but I'm kinda lazy.
Nice job on the slide show.

Very nice slide show and congrats on taking the kids on a great trip. So was the mother owl still around by the baby you photographed? They seem to have taken up residence in refrigerator this Summer.

We didn't see her. The baby had been there for along time. People coming down as we were going up had seen it on their way up and the baby was still sitting there when we came down.

Snicker. And agreed. Might be doing this hike this fall, but I'm still trying to decide if I'm can handle the fear of heights aspect. Don't really have a fear, but reading the descriptions makes me think I might.
Oh and didn't mean to jack the thread.......

I didn't think it was so bad. I was worried by the descriptions as well, especially taking the kids. I was nervous when people tried to pass us and once I told a guy to back off and wait his turn (if he hadn't of I think I would have delighted in knocking him off). There was only one section that really made me nervous and it drops off on both sides but you have the chain to hold onto and as long as no one thinks they can come across at the same time it is no big deal.

Nice Pics Dahling! Just be careful doing Observation point, I worry about you in the heat. Although today is nice and you did awesome rock climbing yesterday. Perhaps you are already acclimated to our dry environment, hehe.
