Anyone been through Fry Canyon lately?
What where the conditions like.
In reading beta it sounds like you can either downclimb the 20 ft section that is rated as 5.4 or combine the first rappel and the 20ft drop.
What is the rope pull like if you combine the 2 and how much rope do you need. It sounds like 200ft rope should be plenty but just wanted to make sure.
Thanks

I don't know the current conditions....
You can downclimb or rappel the final section (last 20').... either way rope pull is not a major issue. If you stick a rope its easy enough to retrieve it on the hike out. Fry is a fun little beginner canyon... it's extremely novice friendly and you would really have to work at it to mess things up. Enjoy.....

Did Fry Canyon today (Saturday June 26). Conditions are as follows:
First section (under the bridge) is wet with pools up to waist deep. We didn't downclimb the drop...we just rappelled using my 200' rope -- which was plenty. The rappel anchor is in excellent condition. The swimming pool at the base of the drop was only waist deep - no swimming, and had a dead raven floating beak down in the water. The gnats are out in force...beware. Also be sure to bring plenty of water for the Bhatan Death March back to your car. Fry ranked pretty low on my canyon list. A lot of work for very little reward. YMMV.
