It begins . . .

Mexico & South Africa play to a 1-1 draw. Ref made the correct call of offside to call back a Mexico goal.

Ireland . . . I mean France did not play in their traditional kit color but instead played in a kit of their national battle flag color, white and with a one man advantage did not win and are tied for last place in their group.

And tomorrow at noon MST on ABC "The biggest Friken Game Ever" as the stars and strip of the US play a much hyped yet always over rated Three Lions of England.

Let's Go Yanks!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Any guesses as to the US England match outcome. edit: I'm not going to guess because I don't want to jinx the outcome but I'm optimistic a special year for the US. I hope Tim Howard will have single match performance worthy of tony meola's england or Kasey Keller's Brazil matches. you USMNT fans should get the reference.

history lesson: 1950 World Cup US wins in the greatest upset ever in World Cup history against the number one team England. The lose prevents England from advancing and the English never wear their blue kit shirt ever again considering it bad luck since they lost to the US. score 1-0

I do feel that if England & Argentina meet this year in the knockout stage England wins this time. Even with all of Argentina's talent Maradona can't coach. Argentina almost didn't qualify.

both teams capitalized off of each other's mistakes. Yanks contained the threat of Rooney and later Crouch well.

Nice photo. :haha:

I watched Germany play today. Boy do they look good. Very smart team with amazing ball control. A well oiled machine. I guess that's Germany to a T.

They dismantled the Aussies 4-0.

Germany looked good. I hope we, USA, win our group because I do not want to face Germany (assuming they win their group) in the knockout stage. Haven't seen Brazil, or most of the teams play, yet but of the teams that have played so far I rate them as most likely to be cup champions. not that one match could tell you that much information. but they do look scary

Not that I really care about soccer, but I tried watching part of the US match. The most annoying thing was those damn horns. I'd rather listen to 24 straight hours of gangsta rap over five minutes of that bullshit. Are the people in the stands even paying attention to the game? Or do they just show up to blow on those stupid f**king horns?

Oh well.... I guess they have to do something to make it sound exciting.

I thought about watching it myself, but the thought of watching Paint Drying versus Grass Growing didn't have much appeal.:lol8:

switzerland defeats favorite spain which is basically tied for first in the world with Brazil. great match there at the end. Switzerland almost went up by two goals. the striker beat both the defender and the goalie but hit the wood work. very tense there

spain's first lost in 48 matches. last lose to USA!!!

historical note. no country has won the World Cup if they lost their first match. Argentina lost their first match in 1990 and made it to the final but lost the final.

The US team should have won. I really thought the ref stole that one from our team.....:angryfire:

Can I just say I hate tie games. Probably the biggest reason I will never be a true devoted soccer fan. There should be a winner and an loser. I don't like the points thing. Win it or lose it. I just find it hard to be satisfied with a tie.

A tie is like kissing your sister.... yeah... all the goodies might be in the right spot but it's still not right.....

I don't even want to hear that. That noise is like looking at Ruth Buzzi all day. Ahhhhhh :haha:

And for you young fellers who don't know who Ruth Buzzi is, she was funny but not much to look at.
