View Full Version : Ride invite Wheeler/East fork Sunday morning May 16
Some friends of mine rode Wheeler/East fork last Sunday and said it was dry. Lets give it a try.
It will be warm and sunny from now till Sunday so it should be dry by then.
Lets meet @ 10:00 bottom of Wheeler canyon.

I may try to make this ride.
I've been eager to get out and try some new trails but prefer to try a trail for the first time with others that are familiar with it, when possible. Would we be meeting at the area across from the Pineview dam? Is there a desired skill level, or is the ride open to all?

Please post pics of the trail when you go, I'm eager to know what the condition is up by Green Pond. If it's decent, I'd like to hit this next week.
Shit!, Its raining on our dry trails.:nono::angryfire::cry1:
Beech, If east fork is dry enough Sunday I will go up Green pond a little ways and see how dry it is. It is always muddy right at the start of the trail early in the year that creek floods the trail.
Wesman, this ride is open to all. Yes, we will be right below pineview dam on the south side of the road.

I'm going to try and make it.
It's an hour's drive but I'm looking forward to riding some new trails.
Crossing my fingers about the mud. I hate taking Sophie out where it's hard on her drivetrain.

I rode Middle Fork today by accident instead of East Fork (I forgot which turn I was supposed to take). It was pretty muddy still and some fallen trees blocking the way, but most was pretty good. East Fork should be in better shape. You guys mind if I tag along with you Sunday?
Enjoytheride, come along and thanks for the report on middle fork.
Cachehiker we will try to keep Sophie out of the mud!
No mud for you!:nono:

Nice meeting you guys! Sorry we didn't make it to the top. That's a serious amount of mud for me. Turns out there is very little clearance between my tire and back rim. the little rocks ended up making it impassable for me. Next time!!!

Great ride guys, thanks for letting me tag along! Let me know when you plan on doing a similar ride and I'm in.
Oh yeah, someone be sure to post up the stats on the ride and pictures!
That rain sure jacked up the trail!
It still turned out to be a fun ride.
We had a big group I think it was 11 people. I have a few good pictures that I will try to post later on tonight.
Beech, We didnt bother going to Green pond too much mud.

That was fun. But very very muddy. We ended up late to the BBQ because not only did we have to take a bath the bikes needed one too!

My dear Sophie is still waiting for her bath.
I'll bet she's pissed.

That was... messy! Alot of fun but what a workout, like a trials competiton in a mud bog. My bike looked like Swampthing and the chain kind of sounded like him too.
Here are a few pictures.
Austin, Jen, Corbin, Wes , Cachehiker, Chris, Kyle and Myself are in the pictures.
Marie, Jenny, Chere, and Jake said screw this mud and turned around.

I think I ate a few dirt clods coming back down that flipped into my mouth as all the dirt went flying!!!! It was a bit of a mud bath. Going to go ride Ogden BST tonight. Shooting for a 5:30 start on the trail.

I was crossing my fingers that they were just that, dirt clods, and not "road apples".
I would hit the bench with you today but too busy with the kids and stuff. :Mario_Facepalm:
Have a great ride.

So still a little muddy up there? Any snow? How far up did you go?

I had a great time, but it was way too muddy for my taste. Thanks to all for showing me a new trail; I hope to learn more.
Sombeech - We didn't see any snow. We went up the East Fork trail as far as the East/Middle forks intersection, then came back down Middle Fork to complete the loop. Was pretty muddy from 226 up. I broke off the trail and came down the last bit on the road, so I can't speak for the last little section back to the Art Nord trailhead.
Some strong riders in the group. I'll pick up the training pace a bit. =)
Beech, it had all dried up from the winter runoff prior to our ride. It was the rain we had during the week especially Friday that screwed it up. If it would stop raining every mid week we would be ok.
So its still muddy, I hope you guys didn't tear it to bad. Hopefully it will be all dry this weekend.
