After reading about the subway excursion i though i'd ask if anyone had been down behunin lately? We are coming down from logan this weekend and were going to give it a go if it's not too nasty.

This was posted over on the Yahoo site.
May 7th.

A group who did Behunin yesterday called to report on conditions.

-The worst snow and ice was between raps 5 and 6. Areas of
consolidated snow.
-Group did the canyon in shorts and t-shirts.
-Not much water, maybe knee to thigh deep.
-Snow to traverse on the way in.

Hope this helps.

Thanks.

Hi, I was the guy who gave Charlotte that call. We did it Wed May 5, sunny & ~ 85 degrees.
As long as you don't hang around in the calf-thigh deep pools in the snowpile section, warmth was not a problem. We never got our fleeces, hats, etc out of our drybags. One snowpile required a partner assist to get on top of (at least for someone of my limited skills); the others could be easily hiked over or around. A little chilly on raps #3 & #4 due to to flow showering on you. Again, we rapped briskly and were fine. Very slippery on those raps though.

A fun day out & cool to see Behunin under different conditions, have fun!
