Not the whitewater so much, more the kind that you can just relax on...Whatever it was, I really, really, REALLY want to start floating rivers. While I don't have a float trip on the radar just yet I'm hoping this is the year I lose my river-virginity.

I dunno if you ever done this, but there is a great river up in Idaho near Preston, that is exactly what you described above. It's called Oneida Narrows. It's for miles of a "wide" river with very mild rapids (if any, really). Very lazy. I've seen people bring full-coolers in tubes down. Its about 1hr 1/2 away from Logan or so. And the water is perfect temps in July or August.
