for those who are interested, there is a clark county commission meeting on may 4th. the Commission is set to vote on a resolution of support for a Gold Butte National Conservation Area with Wilderness (Learn more about these designations here (http://www.wildnevada.org/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=491&Itemid=1)).

Has that commission been out to Gold Butte? There's NOTHING out there. There's barely any vegetation. The little vegetation that does exist has been fenced off. The remainder of that terrain is dirt, rocks and old abandoned mining stuff.

Theres actually quite a bit out there, including some nice petroglyphs. There is one area in particular that needs protection, but it is not that great in size. I'm a long ways from being a wilderness advocate, but there are some incredible formations out there.(rock)

I can't disagree about the petroglyps, I suppose. Considering some of them have already been vandalized. It's just frustrating that areas that really aren't wilderness can possibly have such a designation attached to them.

Very true, no argument. There is only a small section out there, maybe 2 square miles that I'm talking about, it is petroglyphs and much more.
