Raining on the north end of Moab, snowing lightly on the south, extending all of the way to Monticello. Over an inch of snow accumulation in spots.
It's Bush's fault. If he would've just signed the Kyoto Protocol none of this "climate change" would be taking place right now. :mrgreen:

About 5" of snow. Good news since most of Colorado (and Utah) are way below normal in the snowpack department.

:lol8::lol8: Have you seen the snowpack in SE Utah, Beaver, Escalante, and the Virgin areas of the state? It's been well over 100%, sometimes over 200% for most of the winter/spring.

Who thinks the Virgin/Santa Clara River is going to flood again this year? I hope they are better prepared this time...:popcorn:

It's Bee-u-tiful here in NorCal today. But, the storm hitting you all gave us a bunch of rain that just ended yesterday. Hold tight and it should get nice again...

Who thinks the Virgin/Santa Clara River is going to flood again this year?
An almost certainty.
It's a complete whiteout here in LaSal right now. Can't see 100 yds through the sideways blowing snow. Looks like January again.

Yes; here it is as of today:

Only the Virgin River and Beaver River areas are currently above normal (which is why I said most of the state). All other areas in the state are below nomal, but the Escalante and SE Utah areas you mention are only slightly below and pretty close to normal (some stations above and some below). Besides far southern Utah, the rest of the state is dismal in the snowpack department. April is typically when the snow is usually deepest in the mountains and it's hard to make up ground after April is over.
Much of SE Utah was above normal for part of the winter (Monticello and Blanding got hit especially hard with a couple storms), but any excess snow is mostly gone now. It disappeared fast.

It disappeared fast.
Not fast enough. :haha: I hate this part of the year when you get a taste of warm weather, but winter shows up every 6 days. There aren't any weather stations out here in Lisbon valley, but we've been blasted all winter. If it snows anywhere in Utah, it snows here. I've had a gutfull of this crap already.
Any bets on whether there will be yet another winter blast next Wednesday?

There aren't any weather stations out here in Lisbon valley, but we've been blasted all winter.
Winter was above normal (some places much above normal), but spring has been really dry so far in SE Utah (which is one reason why the snowpack diminished so quickly). Ever single station in SE Utah has been drier than normal this spring. Only Monticello has been somewhat close to average.
Here are the two date precipitation values since the end of March in SE Utah (I didn’t bother to copy all of them, but all of them are well below normal) up to April 28. Today’s storm should change the values.
Big Water = 13.3%
Blanding = 70.9%
Bluff = 26.5%
Bullfrog = 14.7%
Capitol Reef = 26.4%
Escalante = 1.8%
Hanksville = 0%
Hite = 0%
Hovenweep = 35.0%
Island in the Sky = 48.7%
Moab = 48.1%
Monticello = 88.0%
Natural Bridges = 43.9 %
Places like the San Rafael Swell held snow quite late, but it was amazing how dry it is now and how quickly the snow and water disappeared.
Anyway, there are two weather stations in the Lisbon Valley area, but you have to wait until the end of the month to get the info since it is updated monthy rather than daily.
I've had a gutfull of this crap already.
At least it doesn't get very cold there. I'll trade you for a winter here for one in Lisbon Valley any day.:mrgreen:
It's not all good news though. Our project is shut down until Monday, so I'm not working right now.
================================================== ================================================
Anyway, for anyone who has snow today check teh links below to see if it is normal or not for it to snow in April in your city, town or location. The averages for Utah and Colorado are below:
http://www.wrcc.dri.edu/htmlfiles/ut/ut.sno.html
http://www.wrcc.dri.edu/htmlfiles/co/co.sno.html
Only a few cities and towns in each state don't normally recieve snow in April, but they are out there. Places like St. George, Lake Powell and even Moab usually don't snow in April. Even then freak storms have occured. St George has seen measurable snow a few times in April and Moab has seen 11 inches in April and even 1.5 inches in May. Believe it or not, the visitor center in Zion Canyon saw an inch of snow on June 7 1949!

So is it clearing out of moab? I know in the span of one hour it cleared up in orem. I am hoping my moab trip this weekend will be at least moderately pleasant. By sunday/monday it looks like it should be plenty clear

And my hunch bet for Saturday's Run for the Roses is Ice Box. A 10-1 shot with Nick Zito as trainer and his sire is none other than Ice Axe.

The weather forecast says that it will snow less than an inch today, but we already have another 5" this morning and it's still coming down hard.

It's overcast and cool in Moab today. Looks like high clouds moving out. No precip so far. The weekend looks decent (60's), but cooler than normal.
