This isn't much of a trip report yet, but it will become one over the next couple months. I fly out tomorrow morning for San Diego, to start the 2650 mile walk to Manning Park, BC.

I've penned a few of my pre-hike thoughts down already, and am just putting the finishing touches on my gear and food. First day on the trail will be Wednesday, and I'll be looking to average just about 20 miles a day from then until September.

If you want to see the progress, you can follow along here -

I'll send in a few notes here as I get internet access as well.

Stoked!

Good luck you your epic adventure. I'm looking forward to reading about it. If there are any services that I can provide when you hit western Washington, just let me know.

Wow! Definitely looking forward to hearing about your adventure. Do you have a rough idea of when you'll be getting to Sequoia, Kings Canyon and then Yosemite. Keep us notified, maybe I can find you over a weekend when you're resupplying!

Best of luck. Can't wait to hear what trail name you get :haha:

Dan, I'm really enjoying your blog. The PCT is in my backyard and I have never paid attention to it before. Thanks for sharing and I look forward to your future posts.

Wandered into Idyllwild yesterday, taking a day off today. We are about 178 miles in, and we've finally hit some mountains and some El Nino snow in the high passes. 3 miles of snow a couple days ago, and a few more tomorrow before heading back down into the desert. Lots of good territory so far!

Been a tough week on the "trail" since last wednesday. Thursday morning, I had to bail to a hostel in Big Bear Lake, CA because I tried to walk through some shin splints. Instead, I felt like I took a shot from a sawed off shotgun directly to my right leg. I've been layed up now for 5 days, and getting restless...

Hoping to be back out there on Wednesday, but the discomfort is still pretty substantial. Just trying to stay positive.

Good stuff from last week though, crossing the San Jacintos.

Is anyone besides me waiting for an update? I check his blog everyday. I hope that all is well and he is just out of cell range.

Oh how I wish I could go for a walk right now - a nice long walk.

Your posts and emotions in your text motivate me to do something similar to this one day - a self-exploration hike if you will.

Safe journey!
