Hey, Red Butte members only tickets went on sale this morning. I've got tickets to Willie Nelson on Sept 10th! There's a bunch of other good shows at Red Butte this summer (http://www.redbuttegarden.org/concerts) and it got me think about other summer shows coming up.
Of course, after two canceled years in a row I'm looking forward to Dave Matthews at USANA (assuming he shows up). And I've got tickets to see Flogging Molly at the Venue next month. The Utah Symphony is doing a night of Led Zeppelin songs at Deer Valley on August 14th, that sounds like a must see show.
Looks like I'm going to miss seeing Franti at the U this Friday (http://smithstix.com/events/item/root/michael-franti-and-spearhead).

What's everyone else looking forward to this summer?

Willie sold out already. Two other Red Butte shows as well; Sheryl Crow and Nora Jones. I'm thinking the extra money for a membership was worth it now. And I'm thinking I should try to squeeze enough for Chris Isaak out of the budget...

Rusted Root in two days, Hackensaw Boys on Friday.

Went and saw Kansas at the Tuacahn amphitheater in Ivins a couple weeks ago.
They have quite a few summer concerts as well.

I got tickets to Sheryl Crow, Doobie Brothers, Rhythm Devils and Allen Toussaint. I really wanted Willie Nelson and Norah Jones but have very early races the day after each. I went online right at 9:00 am when they went on sale to get what I wanted. So many to choose from, but being out of town most of July helped narrow it down. Great line up this year.

I got tickets to ... Rhythm Devils.

Nice! Bill and Mickey (drummers from the Grateful Dead in case y'all are wondering) should be great. I saw Bill at a local place here a month ago playing in a band he calls BK3. They were great. Nice to see him getting out more. I gotta watch and see if they add some Bay Area dates, right now they come no closer than Oregon. Hmmm...my bandmates and I have been talking about doing a little road tour this summer hitting some brew pubs in North CA and OR, maybe go catch a show...

Got tix for the Mountain Winery in Saratoga CA today: Sheryl Crow, Los Lonely Boys and Chick Corea w/Bela Flek and Zakhir Hussain. There's a tie-in with treehugger's Rhythm Devil's show as Zakhir has played tabla in various bands with Mickey Hart.

The Twilight Concert Series has moved from the Gallivan Center to Pioneer Park! This should be a good change; the last few years the shows have been too big for the Gallivan. In a way it's too bad; I remember taking a blanket and a picnic and a bottle of wine to see Sam Bush and the New Grass Revival play the Gallivan, but everything changes I guess.
They have not announced the full schedule but here's what they have announced:

July 8: Modest Mouse w/Avi Buffalo
July 15: Girl Talk
July 22: Beirut w/Twin Sister
July 29: The New Pornographers w/ the Dodos
August 5: Sharon Jones and the Dap Kings w/ Jamie Lidell
August 12: TBA
August 19: TBA
August 26: She & Him

Don when is Flogging Molly coming next month? My cousins invited me last time they came but I couldn't go. I may have to call those McQuade boys and see if they are going this year.

It was two nights ago. Sorry.

Hell, I wish I'd have known you were interested; I got stood up and sold my tickets last minute 'cause I didn't want to go alone knowing my exwife would be there.

Bummer!

I couldn't have gone anyway... I was down south. Took my first load of crap down, dropped it off and got to see my new place.

Next best thing, we will just have to play Flogging Molly and drink a beer in Zion!

On May 29th (Saturday) HANNspree Superbike World Championship is at Miller SportsPark with Foreigner, Kansas, and Styx after it. I'm going to that! Too bad it's only 3days before I get my cast off... :facepalm1: Here comes Mr. Gimp into the crowds...yay

That is a great line up. Always some stupid schedule conflict; me and BB King seem to keep missing each other. I'd really like to see him this year.
I saw the Avett brothers last year at Red Butte. Those guys are really cool. Check 'em out!

Dave Matthews tonight! No cancelation, yet. I'm essentially useless at work today. Right now I'm streaming DMB from Bonnaroo earlier this year. Leaving work early, coming in late tomorrow; I'm really looking forward to this show!

I just saw The Scorpions, Tesla, and Jackyl last night. Tesla had the best show. This weekend I also saw Ryan Shupe & The Rubberband. I'm going to try and make it to Black Label Society with Children of Bodom.

Even changed your avatar, I see! Wait, weren't you really angry at Dave? :haha: Must be over that...

I was mad last year when, not only did he cancel Utah for the second year in a row but he had time, a month later, to ADD two nights in Vegas with Tim Reynolds. No time to reschedule is one thing but time to add something (obviously more profitable ‘cause they charged a lot for those Vegas shows) instead of a reschedule pissed me off. I’ve been boycotting DMB since (haven’t bought anything but a profit-goes-to-charity album all year). My statement last year was that I would boycott until he played SLC again.
Tonight’s SLC show is a free show because he’s trying to make up with SLC fans. That’s a pretty big gesture, now if he puts on a good show I might buy a tee shirt at the show or a new Live Trax album from the website…

I just got this email from DMB, when I saw the subject "Dave Matthews Band 08.17.10 USANA Amphitheatre Show" in my inbox I thought they must be cancelling the show AGAIN. I guess my preemptive cancellation plan by not going didn't work. Have fun at the show!

Greetings from the Warehouse:

Dave Matthews Band looks forward to returning to the Salt Lake City, UT area this evening to perform a concert at the USANA Amphitheatre in West Valley City, UT.
The show is free, however, you must have a ticket to attend. We hope that you will arrive in time to catch Brett Dennen's set at 7:00 pm MDT.

Enjoy the show!

Cheers,

Warehouse Crew

Robin, Aaron and I saw Los Lonely Boys last week. Originally it was going to be just Robin and me, but then I realized I wanted to leave for Yosemite after the show so I bought a single seat. We had weird great luck with seating. The single seat was 3rd row and the folks next to it had one person missing. Then the pair we had (about 10th row) turned out to be 2 seats away in the same row as the pair Robin's sister had! So it made it easy to take turns and no one was left alone. The show was great. I was blown away by the bass player especially.

Just got home. What a great show! I might have to look into tickets for DMB in Idaho in 2 weeks...
