Hey Yall... Living in San Diego but went rappelling in Zion in Feb. Fell in love with Utah and this sport. Now I just need to find new friends I can enjoy this new found sport with.

You found the right place for that! Welcome to the canyoneering hood. I luv San Diego, perhaps we could trade for a few months outta the year. :2thumbs:

Wish that was possible. Roommate would have an issue with that. When I travel to Utah, it's for just a 2 or 3 day weekend I can fit in when ever possibe.

Always good when the ladies join the canyoneering party! Hopefully you are single and young right? hehe.

What canyons did you explore during your Zion trip?

Hey, welcome. Keep an eye out for the next Bogley canyon fest. Fun way to get some canyons and meet some cool people.

Thanks Don...
Hey! can you give me an idea as to when the Bogley Canyon Fest is held. Since I live in San Diego, I need to know in advance to schedule my time off.

Thanks Tanya,

Friend of mine in St. Geroge recommended I sign up on this sight since I'm very new to the sport. Trying to find new friends I can hang with while in UT as well as learn from and get more time in on this new found sport I love so much.

The next Fest I know of is in May (http://www.bogley.com/forum/showthread.php?37483-Bogley-Family-Fest-Zion-May-2010 (http://www.bogley.com/forum/showthread.php?37483-Bogley-Family-Fest-Zion-May-2010)) but it’s a Zion Family Fest; everyone is bringing kids to Zion. Some easier hiking and easier mountain biking and probably some fun campfire stories but there probably won’t be much canyoneering going on that weekend.
The only other thing I know for sure this year is Freeze Fest between Christmas and a couple days after New Years. It’s in the North Wash, near Hanksville Utah and happens every year for New Years! Don’t let the cold frighten you off; Freeze Fest is GRRRREAT.
Keep an eye on the Canyoneering section here and something will pop up, usually with a few months notice.

OH! The Southern Utah Wilderness Alliance (SUWA) is having their annual campout in the San Rafael Swell this fall. 24-26 September. They’ll be camping at the Hidden Splendor Mine and offering nature hikes during the day and interesting conversation (re: lectures) in the evening. That site is near some great Swell canyons (Quandary, Knotted Rope, Music and more; http://climb-utah.com/SRS/index.htm (http://climb-utah.com/SRS/index.htm)) so Myself and some friends and some Bogley people that got invited via Facebook (Hit me up: http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=567633203&ref=profile) are planning to camp near SUWA that weekend. We’ll do technical slot canyons during the day and participate in SUWA camp activities in the evening. You should come up for that!

Welcome, lararain!

Hey, look at your serif font, Don! You non-conformist!

I'm still going to be trying to do some canyons with the kids. I'm bringing them all that way... I've got permits for Keyhole on Friday and Saturday (12 each), and Mystery Sunday (6, if the Narrows settle by then). ststephen has 6 spots for the Subway on Friday, and I have 6 spots for Telephone Canyon that day, too.

Canyons outside the park are an option, over the weekend, too: Yankee Doodle, Birch, etc...

So, yeah, there will probably be some basic canyoneering that weekend... :2thumbs:

Good idea Kev, I could probably get E into Yankee Doodle. I'd have to get him on rope a couple times between now and then...

And I know, the font; I sometimes type up responses in a Word Document while I'm at work so people don't see me hanging out on Bogley all day...

:haha:

FYI, Beech has been eyeballing a new plugin for bogley with a panic button. We'll be voting on that and some other mods in the BigShots section soon.

Thanks Don for the info. Will keep my eye out for the dates. And to all the others who have welcomed me, have a great week.

Yeah, the Panic Button might be the new feature coming your way. It depends on the votes though.
