I love the orange metolius pack! They turn out great in pictures, don't they? Been beating the crap out of mine since 5 years ago in canyons and it's STILL going strong. :P

Sounds like you had a good time! :cool2: Sure looks like you did anyway :P

Looks like a great trip! I went down E3 last fall on my own, and just loved it! What a fantastic spot! Looks like everyone had an excellent time. :2thumbs:

How was the totem?

I am still working thru some of the configurations - specificaly the ones that give me the most friction/control on free hangs. There is one realy nice feature of the Totem that I like and that is the ability to get extra control/stopping ability with a slight squeeze with the non brake hand around the rope and totem.

It was my first try at the totem myself. Thanks to Rich passing it of to Amie so I could pick it up in time in Escalante. I used the same rigging as Doug shows in the photo i took. I found, like all the other belay deivces on a repel of that length, it did get hot. The one advatage was the decent control I had with the right hand by just lightly squeezing the rope agaisnt the totem. I could stop and hang with ease.
