My 8th grade science teacher had an Altair. It was the first computer I ever worked with.

IIRC, he was in the process of setting it up with a cassette tape drive, more memory, a BASIC languate interpreter, and a monitor connected to a serial port at then end of the semester.

Makes me feel old. As does having to admit I've written programs with punchcards and loaded them off of ticker tape.
