In an age of extremes, 68 year old Bill Burke, who is the oldest American to summit Everest, is currently on Everest. He summited last year after two previous tries. He gave a talk to our hiking group this year and explained his new goal, a double assent of Everest. Once from the Chinese side and one from the Nepal side which has never been done before. Bad weather causing delays at altitude took its toil. Bill reached Second Step today but had to turn around. An amazing feat anyway just to make it that far.
