My 100ft 9mm Imlay ropes sheath has sliped off the core by about 3 1/2-4" shoud i cut if off and remelt it together? Or is it time for a new one ? The rope its self is in good condition

A little sheath slippage is no big deal. yes, re-cut and melt. Try to get the core and sheath to fuse together well at the end, helps prevent further slippage.

Anyone else use athletic tape on the ends of their ropes to prevent slippage? I find it works great. Plus its amazing how often a little tape comes in handy in canyoneering/first aid.
Just be careful to not put too much tape. Could cause it to bind in some spots when pulling...
