BAHH ha ha ha ha ha
I just watched "Steal this film" parts I & II.
Interesting how performing musicians even thought that the "recorded albums" were going to put a screeching halt to the live performances.
Music over the radio was going to destroy the recorded music industry.
Tape recorders were going to destroy the music industry.
Movies on TV was going to damage the film industry.
VCRs were going to damage the live TV / film industry.
Recordable CDs were going to break the music industry.
Floppy disks were going to damage the software programming industry.
[fast forward a few hundred lines...]
And media sharing was going to destroy the film & music industry.

And on a related note: be very careful.... The Pirate Bay has a really nasty virus on their website.... it's one of those fake security warnings where if you push the button you are screwed.... and just getting rid of the fake warning can be a pain in the butt.....

I don't know the official name but here is some good info on it if you want to read up.....
Fake Windows Security Center Analysis and Removal
http://www.malwarehelp.org/fake-windows-security-center-analysis-and-removal-2009.html
MalwareBytes will delete the program if you can get it to run.... the big problem is the virus attacks and deletes MalwareBytes from your computer. I finally got Spybot to run by loading it to a flash drive on anther computer and than running it on the infected computer. That allowed me to gain enough control over my computer that I could reload MalwareBytes and get it to run. I've also been told that Superantispyware will delete the program. In the end I ran all three on my system and they all did clean up.... it's a nasty virus.....
I also had AVG up and running beforehand as my virus protection and it blew right through that program....
:cool2:
The irony about the whining by the record industry is that it's product is 95% unlistenable crap. If they had something to offer, I might see their point.

The only music I've downloaded is old stuff that I had/have on LP/8-track/cassette.... I figure I paid for it once and that was enough.
The movie industry I have a beef with.... they sell the DVD's in China for $2 but charge $15 in this country.... that's bullshit.... they say the reason they sell it so cheap in China is that's the only way to compete with the pirates.
When DVD's cost the same in both counties I'll buy DVD's or visit Red Box.

Malwarebytes never fails me, and I'm removing at least one of these very same types of viruses about once per week.
If you can get Malwarebytes installed, boot up in Safe Mode and do the scan.
ComboFix was also mentioned in the Tech Forum by DiscGo.

i have a beef with dvd's as well. the dvd drive in my hp laptop has a region protection. i travel back and forth between the u.s. and new zealand, a couple times a year. if i want to watch a movie on my computer i have to change the region. my dvd will only allow me to change region 5 times before it locks on the last region selected. this is nuts. laptops travel around the world all the time. in order to remove the protection i need to flash the firmware with a patched version. if you screw that up the drive becomes a paperweight. i don't know if i am willing to risk my dvd drive. well, you get my point.

Too funny. Had to dig through my cassettes...got it.
I don't have the original, though. Got the "virus 5C" version with 3 bonus tracks, and, recorded on both sides. Also, ahem, have the vinyl too.
I remember with clarity hearing the DK for the first time. Was fall of 81 or so. We musta played that frat boy song "too drunk to f$%&" a hundred times. And, we probably were.
To this day I can probably recite the lyrics...
Saw 'em a couple times. Once is Seattle in '84 and in SLC in '85. Caught Jello's stage dive both times. Wild times.
The band that backed them up in Seattle was Green River. My family on my dad's side is all from the NW, and, all loggers. We used to go to them punk shows dressed kinda like loggers. You know, flannel shirts and boots, etc. Did that look ever get popular? Ha ha.
Anyhoo, Green River morphed into Pearl Jam...
Somewhere in the archives I still have that Seattle DK concert poster. Also lists the Crucifuc$'s in the line up. Frightening stuff.
Anyhoo...thanks for the stroll down memory lane...

Its okay the music industry has figured out how to fix their financial woes by getting the Performance Radio Tax passed.
It makes perfect sense. Your business is faltering so you go to the government and tell the government to tax your customers.
Of course unlike other taxes this one will go back to the record companies.
I like this a lot. You can't make your would be customers pay you to use your product so you make the government your enforcer and cry the blues that your (digital) rights are being trampled on all over the net and that in order to survive you need a law passed to fill your coffers.
Now personally I agree with a tax on radio stations. The frequencies they use are public property and they get them way too cheap.
So I suggest we pass the tax and tell the record companies thanks for the idea and forget ever seeing a dime. In fact I think we double down on this idea and tell the record labels that since they are benefitting from the promotiion of their product on the public airwaves (currently at no cost to them) that the record companies will be recieving a tax bill for each song played on the public airwaves.
