We bought some of that chalkboard paint and decided to dedicate an entire wall in our toy room. It turned out great and the kids love it. :five:

That is really cool. I am going to have to start copying your home improvement ideas Scott. You do great things!

wow, that's a great idea. I was thinking of buying some of that whiteboard stuff, but I'd imagine chalk vaccuums out of the carpet a little easier than marker.

So it's just paint?

So it's just paint? Also texture. I've done some of this before and you want the smoothest texture possible upon which to apply the paint. The orange peel can work well but some of the more modern textures don't do so well. If you have orange peel texuture, which most walls have, just sand it down a bit, paint over it with a grey primer and apply the chalk board paint and you should be OK. At least that is how I did it. The paint store or the can itself will tell you how many coats. How'd you do your wall Acca? BTW, it looks great! Oh and your last photo answered the mystery of how petroglyphs were done. "Yo' Running Bull, get out of the kitchen and draw mommy a pretty picture."

As kids practise drawing on the walls of their home, they will surely draw masterpieces on the walls at grandmas house ! :ahhh:

So when they're drawing on the sides of buildings a few years from now, you'll know why! :lol8:

Anyway, I think that's a cool idea. :2thumbs:

Yep, next they'll be taking a can of spray paint to your white vinyl fence. :haha:

I (my wife :lol8:) didn't sand it down at all. I helped her tape if off and remove the outlets. She put a couple coats on and all is well. The surface isn't super smooth, but it works really well. I wouldn't sand if I could do it again, unless you have some really rough texture on your wall. The kids LOVE it and it was a nice upgrade to the toy room. You can pick up this paint all over... :five:
