I recall Rich has. Thought it was too thin for sandstone canyons but then posted again saying it may have applications. made for special ops. also good for canyon ninja's poaching canyons in Alpine.

Whats your opinion on: good for canyoneering? good for sandstone slots?
good rappelling down a side of building with an MP5 and a gas mask on?
Good for canyon ninjas poaching canyons?

Old#7 how did you rig it?

I've used it in sandstone canyons on rappels up to 100'.
It seems to hold up fine. I rig it in canyon mode, if more friction is required, run the rope up over the top horn and back to the normal braking position.
The size is quite small, the tighter radiused hole has considerably more friction than a Pirana in canyon mode.
On a side note, I have had good luck in canyon mode, running the rope under the device, rather than over as on a pirana.(pic)
This is just how I use it and probably not recommended. On a stiff/or larger diam. rope you might have a hard time keeping the rope under the device.

What's the slot for?

I'm guessing it was designed for a belay or maybe a progress capture. It is so small, an 8mm rope is tight in it.

Are you using it as your regular device now or just tested it?

It's Rich's, I was testing it.
I will buy one though.
