The other trail we rode over the holidays was the Desert Classic trail at South Mountain. There are many trails in that area for all skill levels. The Classic trail is a shuttle trail that skirts the base of the mountains and brushes up right next to the backyard fences of multi-million dollar homes. There are lots of whoop-dee-do's and fun sections. Lots of kitty-litter disintegrating granite to add to the excitement. The one con of this trail is that it is loaded with hikers, joggers, horses, and other bikers so you really have to keep your eyes open. However, even with all of the traffic it never really took away from the enjoyment of the ride. We rode the trail as an out-and-back (mostly because of sketchy locals descriptions) and ended up riding about 18 miles. Not much for most people but it was double what we expected so we were pretty tired. Loved the weather though.
