Having very limited surfing experience here in Southern Utah, I have a question. When theses guys hit big waves, do they use big boards? I'm asking because when I was in Hawaii a couple years ago, it seemed like everyone was on shorter boards.

I think the average is 7' or less. The smaller boards will go faster than the larger 8' boards. These big waves are cruisin'. Your average 3' wave riding is around 15-20 MPH, these big waves can be up to 40 MPH (the wave itself, traveling about half that)
