Headed down to Moab last thursday to spend the halloween weekend in moab. Two families from our neighborhood joined us. Neither family had ever been to moab. There were 16 of us all together with about half never having rappeled before.
We hit Rock of Ages on friday afternoon. Nothing like starting out some noobs who are also small on a 170 ft. rappel. They did great, water was alot deeper then I was planning on. We were not prepared to get wet. We survived. With 16 took us about 4 to 5 hours. We had a 5 year old tag along and I figured one of his parents would be heading back out after a few of the up climbs but he lead the group all day and had a great time. :2thumbs:
Saturday, rented a couple of jeeps for my neighbors. My son and his buddy rode there bikes. They have decided two wheels are alot more fun then sitting in a jeep. Ended up at Uranium Arch for a little rappeling. The kids love that rappel. Go down hike back up and go down again. I think my 8 year old did it 10 plus times. Gets to do a little swinging at the bottom of the rappel. He thinks it's better than lagoon.
Sunday hit U Turn and then headed over to the indian crack and then out to big bend bouldering area.
We had a great trip. Looking forward to this weekend with the bogley fest.

Oh and before the helmet police beats me up, it was hard enough to round up 16 harnesses let alone helmets. Divided them up to the least experienced.
On a side note we had a 12 year old who I felt as well as his parents he would probably just be staying in the motel. He came along and took to rappeling like a duck to water. It was amazing and rewarding to see how much fun he had. Each day he would ask "how many rappels do we get to do today, this high adventure stuff rules".
