STOCKTON -- A traffic stop involving a young officer and the son of a small-town mayor has the whole town talking. The mayor of Stockton tried to fire the officer for issuing his son a ticket.

Cpl. Joshua Rowell told KSL News he was just doing his job. He said he acted professionally when he wrote the driver a ticket and was shocked when he was suddenly asked to hand over his badge.

Rowell is a new member of the five-man Stockton police force. So, last Tuesday he didn't think twice about pulling over a driver in a small white car for avoiding a DUI stop.

"He didn't have a driver's license, so I issued him a citation for that," Rowell explained.

He didn't think twice, that is, until he handed the ticket to the court clerk.

"She looked at it and said,

That mayor dun got owned.

:2thumbs:

Like there was ever any doubt how this would end up.... some people just don't think things all the way through to the end game....

This same mayor was sues a few years back for a similar deal over firing his secretary.... she was on the news the other day and said she couldn't say how much she was given to settle, but it was more than she would have made workin'.

Some people...

Apples and oranges.... Different deal to me.... mayors are elected to represent their town. Voters have the power to remove a dumass mayor. The only way you can get rid of a dumbass cop is to bitch loudly to those we elected.

anyhoo.... thats my take...

Just in case anyone still wondered,
The mayor was beaten by 75% is is not longer the mayor.
seeing as how they mail in the votes, and alot had already been mailed in before this happened, Id be willing to bet that had they all had to vote last night, he would of been handed his ass by more like 95%

STOCKTON -- Citizens in the town of Stockton have made their opinions known at the polls. On Tuesday night, voters sent incumbent Mayor Dan Rydalch packing.

With 100 percent of precincts reporting, challenger Mark Whitney has won the town's mayoral race with over 75 percent of the vote.

Many residents in Stockton had said they wanted Rydalch ousted after they learned he fired a police officer for giving his son a ticket. That officer was later reinstated by the Stockton City Council.
