I was working with the Utah Athletic Commission Saturday night in Wendover. Caught a nice rain storm on the way there:

After working the event, I took advantage of being on that side of the west desert at sunrise.

I've been out there in the heat of summer and in the winter when the salt flats are flooded. This was a different experience. I often joke with my outta-state friends that Utah is like another planet. In this case it's a compliment.

Some of these were using my Nikon D-80, others were with my iPhone. Really wish I'd met up with Summit for an HDR tutorial.

great shots man - it really time for me to start making trips out there.
The GSL is one of the most amazing places in Utah. I lived so close to it and traveled around it for many years yet had idea what was out there until I started shooting photos.

Check out this Flickr group.. some of these guys head out a few times a week - http://www.flickr.com/groups/utah-greatsaltlake/pool/page1

Thanks guys - that Salt Lake group has some nice shots, and a lot of east shore locations.

Chere, those flakes would roll off the tires whenever I slowed down and bounce along the mud crust away from the salt pack. I'll admit I hit the brakes a few times just to watch them dance.
