4x4 bridge in Birch Hollow?

Anyone know the full story of the 4x4 bridge in the Birch Hollow approach? Tom?

The bridge has been there since Kip and friends first uncovered the canyon and brought it to the attention of the canyoneering community in 2000 or 2001. Kip originally called the route "Bridge Canyon" because of the ATV bridge. I'm sure someone has more info but that's what I know....
