Went down to Maple Canyon 2 weeks ago for the first time. Great little spot with a ton of climbing (and climbers!). It was pretty cold at night but pretty nice during the day. I don't climb much but my wife and I both climbed solid 5.9's with no rests or falls. When the rock is cold, it makes you fast! I don't know the names of what we did but can find out if you wanted. On day 2, I climbed a 5.9 and daisy chained in to the top while everyone climbed an adjacent route for photos. I rappelled for the first time as well.

Great trip, great canyon.

The One Man Band Diner in Nephi is pretty amazing. Worth a stop.

Nice pics! That type of rock looks like it would be fun to climb. I see all kinds of boulders embedded in there, so you can probably do the same run 3-4 times and make your own trail for variations. Left side, right side, center, etc.

Man I love maple..sucks to see it so packed full of climbers these days.

Last trip down there some asshat told us we have no right to camp there because we did not have any climbing gear... then he (and his friends) tried to take out campsite.

I miss the days of Maple being a secret spot.

Awesome pics, I love Maple. Wow Summit, that's ridiculous! I'm guessing those guys were drunk or high or both. Don't you hate people sometimes? Maple is insanely crowded these days but the climbing is so good I can't stay away, and end up adding to the problem. Sanpete county is promoting the canyon with pamphlets at all the local climbing gyms plus on their website, they are promoting it as "one of the best sport climbing destinations in the u.s." The crowds are only going to get worse!

Don't get me wrong, I LOVE maple canyon but there is something about that canyon that seems to bring out the worst in people. I have spent some serious time in maple and seen some crazy stuff down there...a few fights, freak outs, and even got shot at once. Also heard stories about an Indian that was killed on the large free standing boulder near the campground.

Love the TR really got me thinking about taking a day off work to drive down hike a few trails and take some photos.

Good to see you getting out before all the white stuff flies. The weather is supposed to be nice for the next week or so. Gotta get out if you can. :2thumbs:

The rock is mostly conglomerate so yes, holds everywhere. Trust everything.

Now is the time to go for sure. It wasn't bad at all when we were there but apparently things have drastically changed in just the last 5 years. I could see a circus in the summer and I would definitely not be a part of it. It is a pretty small canyon so I could see it growing too busy for the space.

We have been going down to Maple for the last 20 years and I have watched it change dramatically. Its a lot more crowded these days but if everyone would be considerate then there would be plenty of room for climbing. Its a unique canyon and has a lot to offer but there are a lot of asshats out there who act entitled. Love the place, my fav climb is "pasties and a g-string" I love the climb but the name is pretty sweet too.
