NICE :2thumbs:

That looks like Sundace Resort? I went down there at same place on a practice run for a state race I did there 2 years ago. Good thing it wasn't during the race or I'd feel even more embarased to have a lot of people see me wreck. My friend was the only one that saw it. He was at the top taking a still pic. He saw me hit the jump and then just saw a cloud of dust. Didn't see the wipe out.

Hey by the way, what video editing program do you use?

I use some cheap stuff that works pretty good. It's made by a company called Cyberlink, and the program is PowerDirector. It's got some cool features that other much more expensive programs had.

That was a clip of a DVD that that I did a couple of years ago. If I remember right I had to reverse my camcorder backwards while captureing it on my computer? I can't really remember it has be so long since I did that. All I remember is it took forever and two different editing software. I'll see if I can figure out how I did it and get back to you.

Ok original footage was take on camcorder. In order to reverse, I had to capture the video while I was reversing it on my camcorder. I just found an easier way. I upgraded to powerdirect 8. you can do it easily in there.

Little Cottonwood Trail, if you've been on the trail, you've probably seen the jump, maybe even hit it. Towards the bottom, glaring at you, taunting you to hit it. Perfectly shaped ramp. Over the bars to barrelroll, couldn't lift my arm above my stomach, thought I got my collarbone but a little ice pack and I was good in a few days. My brother was out from Virginia and I was hoping to get some good riding in with him but I had to show off a little and end my day early, you know.

Damn, those are some nasty crashes! I think it's funny how many of you have video! :-) My worst I do not have pictures of... but I threw myself off the Crest trail down about 25 feet of rocky slope. My bike continued on for another 25 feet or so before getting stopped by a downed tree. I just remember seeing my bike, still attached to my feet up over my head at one point, then all came tumbling down. Was pretty shaken up, had some very ugly gashes, bike wouldn't roll... fixed myself and my bike out and rode, very slowly, out. Pretty ugly.

Sundance was another good crash... just flyin' down (well, flyin' for me!) and I guess I just went up on a loose edge and BAM! down I went - hip onto rock. Dang, that hurt. Here's the result:

Ouch! Red

I remember that bruise Tree.

My last crash was in January down in St. George. Went over the handle bars, I still have a lump on my right outer thigh from that bruise that tingles when I walk and itches like MAD!!!! I just want the dam thing to go away.

I am over crashing. Really I would be very happy to never experience another crash.

That is nasty, Treehugger! I don't have any video or pics of my crashes as I'm usually alone. So, if you crash in the forest and no one else see's it, did it really happen?
My worst crash was coming down off Ridge Trail in AF Canyon on a relatively straight portion of the trail. I usually hit about 31-32 MPH on this section. I had ridden it the day before and the trail was good. Sometime between the day before and this ride a HUGE pine tree had fallen over the trail. I would guesstimate the top of the tree at about 4' high. I could not stop in time. The thought, in slow motion, going through my mind was, OK, if I hit the tree going 30, I'm dead, literally. So, I put the bike down in a 'controlled' crash along the side of the trail, in the shrubbery, stopping just short of the tree. I was bruised and scraped but otherwise seemed to be OK. It wasn't until I got home when my knee starting hurting. Ended up I had torn the meniscus and had to have surgery. Painful recovery.

Been there, done that, with no pics on the Ephraim's Cutoff Trail up here. Sat there all cut up and bleeding and couldn't stop thinking "I bet I bent that d@mn derailleur hanger again!"

if you crash in the forest and no one else see's it, did it really happen?

That depends on how expensive the repairs were.

Nothing like iceaxe leg, but my most recent fall. My pride was hurt worse than my leg. I put some new 1.95 tires on my bike they had way to much air. Plus I've never ridden that skinny of a tire before. Anyways crashed in one of the easy spots on bobsled this tues. My tire just got sucked up in the gravel and threw me off the bike. The worst part is there was chick not to far behind me that saw me laying in the dirt on the side of the trail. She looked at me like "how did you crash here" & then asked if I was ok. I had my helmet cam on at the time and will post that soon.

Warning: this pictures below are pretty graphic and not for the faint of heart or those with a weak stomach.

So yesterday I crashed on my mountain bike. It wasn't really a crash, more like I tipped over going about 2 mph. I was riding down a singletrack in Corner Canyon and anther rider and his dog were coming up the trail so I unclipped my right foot and went to step down and the dumb dog ran under my foot, so I fell to the left where my foot was still clipped into the pedal and I couldn't catch myself. It was no big deal really... except for the front sprocket sliced my calf open like a kitchen turkey. It took over 30 stitches to close and is going to leave a wicked scar.

I had to ride two miles home and drive myself to the hospital.

The doc's were laughing because I placed a towel over the wound and ducted taped it in place so I would bleed all over my truck. They thought it was funny I used duct tape to patch myself up.

The worst part is I'm out of commission for doing fun stuff for the next 3 weeks.

Remember... you were warned!

After working hard to post my best time ever on a nice bit of down hill I was relaxing while rolling through a straight section on my way back to the house. With less than a half a mile of dirt remaining before the boring three and a half mile asphalt treck to the hacienda, a lapse of concentration put me down. It appears that I clipped the left edge of a rock in the trail shooting my front wheel to the left and out from under me. The bike went left while i flew right, head first, and supermanning it all the way in. Fortunately I had the presence of mind to use the thistles to slow me down as I slid along.

79822
I took this pick while regaining my wits prior to heading down. You can see where my hand first hit the dirt to the right of the trail - my slide was right to left through this pic head first all the way to a full stop. Thank god for thistles.

I had just left my riding partner at a trail junction a half a mile above this. I gave him a call and asked if he could grab his truck and meet me at the lower parking lot. I felt I'd be fine riding that far but not through town. The bike looked fine... as I started rolling, fortunately down hill, I couldn't get my seat to stay up - it appears I have damaged the cable and lever to the dropper I had recently installed. Soon enough I needed to pedal a short uphill segment... that's when i realised that I had sheared the perch for my left shifters, had to stop and reseat the chain to the inner chainring, then roll to the parking lot.

I had a few minutes to wait so I rolled across to the bathrooms to wash up.. I knew my shin was scraped pretty good and my forearm sustained some good rash. I was suprised to look in the mirror and see my upper arm.

79823
Once the dirt was rinsed out the pain started.

79824
The upper thigh and hip scrapes are not visible in the pics.

I ordered the parts to repair the bike, should be here by the end of the week. Hopefully I'm healed enough to ride by the time I get them!

So I had a pretty good get off on Tuesday morning. I don't crash often and had to really dig to find the last bad one on my MTB. It was when I wheelied over in Park city in 2007 and broke my wrist. In 2013 I broke my thumb in a similar crash going over the bars on my dirt bike after clipping a rock just right going down a hill.

Well it was around 7am on Tuesday and I was heading south on the BST (in the dark), just above Mike Weir drive and almost to where the trail heads down and you cross Mike Weir. The trail is narrow with some ups and downs, but nothing crazy. I'm not sure if I clipped my pedal on something hanging off the side of the trail, like a rock or piece of wood. Either that or my handlebars just grazed a tree.

The next thing I know is I'm going over the bars when my wheel must have turned and I'm thinking that really hurt as I roll down the side of the trail. It knocked the wind out of me and I couldn't breath for a bit. I'm thinking, well this sucks. My shoulder area is in excruciating pain and I'm banged up in other areas. I think my shoulder may have hit a tree/piece of thick brush, whatever it is there. I didn't look around much after, but noticed the tree with bark taken off. I will have to go back up and try to have a look.

When I got back on my bike I rode down Mike Weir drive over to the temple and down coyote on the dirt road back to the EQ. Trying to take the easiest/quickest way back. Thinking this will get me back and I wont have to wait for my wife. It was really painful riding and I knew something was jacked up. It was slow going, riding the brakes

When I got back to my car, I could not get the bike on top to put it on my roof rack. Luckily there was a guy who just pulled up to ride the trail and I asked him to help me, otherwise I would have had to take off a wheel somehow and throw it in the trunk. I could not lift it.

I got home and luckily again my wife had some percocet from my daughters recent surgery. I think that dose saved my life. The pain was a 10 at that point. I thought I either broke my clavicle or dislocated my shoulder.

I went to the ER for an x-ray because my doctor said if it was dislocated they would have to fix it there. Luckily a third time...everything looked ok on the x-ray. I did pass out during the x-ray. I think partially from hunger and pain. They wouldn't give me anything until they figured out what was wrong. I also bruised a few ribs from the handlebar (guessing) as I went over. Some other scrapes and bruises. Just got banged up pretty bad and now sore all over. My clavicle really hurts, shoulder blade and scapula area.

Needless to say it has been very difficult to put a shirt on or use my arm for the last few days. Lots of pain and more percocet. Especially for the first couple nights sleeping in a recliner in lots of pain. It has been getting better very slowly. The motion that I cannot do is lift my arm to turn on a light or even change the station on my car stereo. I certainly can't drive with that arm.

Today my daughter wanted me to get on my bike and follow her on her stryder bike. I was able to ride, but any pressure on my right shoulder created sharp pain in my scapula area. I must have really torn some muscles or ligaments. Who knows. I'm trying to keep using it as much as I can to keep it from freezing up. Hopefully I won't need physical therapy. Getting old sucks!

That sucks about crashing. I had a good high speed crash last October up at the Canyons bike park. I couldn't remember the last time that I had crashed. The older that I get, the bigger I seem to go and the more afraid I am of crashing. I think that I watch these young guys hitting the jumps and I think in my mind that I can be young as well. Glad that you are recovering.

Racing my MTB at the World Senior Games and this is how my downhill run ended.

Left shoulder AC separation.

Are you more upset about your shoulder, or your poor front wheel?? :haha:

Seriously though, healing vibes your way.

I actually would have saved it and not crashed if the front wheel hadn't of folded. When the wheel folded it was all over but for hitting the ground. I was really hauling ass at the time as it happened in the fastest part of the course and I was carrying a lot of speed. I landed literally at the feet of the paramedic crew, I slide to within about 5' of where they were standing and came to a stop in a cactus bush, which allowed me to discover a new use for duct tape. It works wonders a pulling hundreds of cactus needs out of your back. Just tape all over you back and then remove the tape and all the hair on your back plus the cactus needles come out.

Duct tape works great for Stinging Nettle as well! Sorry for your injury! What's recovery time looking like?

Dang. Well at least it was during something manly like mountain biking instead of running ha ha

If you head up to Bountiful to Mountain West Surgical Center, let me know and I'll have my wife take good care of you. Only once. Everybody only gets one time with her.

The good news from this weekend's MTB race is that I did gold medal in the hill climb (time trial).
