I just wrote this article on 10 essential tools or equipment to have when you're off-roading. Here's the link:http://www.examiner.com/examiner/x-19954-Salt-Lake-City-Outdoorsman-Examiner~y2009m9d24-Ten-essential-items-to-have-with-you-on-your-offroad-trip

Let me know what you think.

Good but I don't know so much about the High lift jack.. 1 they are scary to use :).. and 2 the only thing I have ever used a high lift jack for is the handle as a sleeve over a tie rod and have used them this way 5 times in the past.. I think a good strap would have been a better choice over the high lift jack... JMHO

From someone who has had to use a high lift jack on numerous occasions when no other jack would do, I would have to disagree.

not saying they don't get used but a strap is more commonly used thank a high lift :P

I actually really like these X-Jack inflatables, but haven't been able to afford one yet.

What I like about the high lift jacks is that they can be used for a variety of situations. This page: http://www.offroadadventures.com/articles/view/id/347 will give you some ideas of what they can be used for. But yeah, they can be dangerous at times for sure.
