i thought rule #1 was "treat every gun as if it is loaded".

You laugh at him, but this guy was first in his class in the Plaxico Burres School of Gun Safety. :haha:

At first I felt sorry for his kids.... than I figured not really..... Now the kids can grow up without their idiot father giving them stupid advice.

Some say that a good number of these accidents are not accidents at all. The person just doesn't want it to look like they committed suicide so their loved ones won't hurt even more.

It's also a psychological fact that a lot of suiciders will kill themselves on the "upward slope" as their starting to appear happier. This is because they've decided the end is near, and they start coming out of their depression a bit.

I think I agree with Beech. I suspect suicide.

 Wow you will come up with some real bullshit just to avoid admitting the fact that a gun owner accidentally killed himself due to his own negligence. Great analysis Dr.

I'm gonna say the same thing when gun haters NEVER blame the alcohol.

@ Beech and Blue

How can you guys get that from a few hundreds words from reporter? I get what you are saying but don't you think your assumptions are a little far fetched given the information you have here... or did I miss the part where he left suicide note. For all you know a few hours before he ordered some new underwear off ebay and was so giddy from the excitement that he was distracted during his lesson.

Not everyone leaves a suicide note. Like I said I suspect suicide and if not he should be a candidate for the Darwin awards.

I'm sorry, but I didn't draw any conclusions. I just said what I said, which is....

"Some say that a good number of these accidents......"

and

"A psychological fact is that a lot of......"

I'm not saying this dude did it on purpose. I've got no idea what happened.

What MOST LIKELY HAPPENED is he was too drunk to handle the firearm, and people are blaming the gun.

Do you blame automobiles when people drive drunk? What's the difference then?

Hell, I don't want to get into a debate or anything, I'm just bringin' stuff up I learned in Psychology 101 as a side note.

:soapbox:

I'm with Beech and Blue here. Not saying it was or wasn't but it COULD be. A lot of people with severe depression do complete suicide on the upswing. Usualy when someone is that depressed, they have a plan but are too unmotivated to go through with it. When people start medication they are told that if their suicidal thoughts increase, to let their doc know. This is because a lot of times the medication will make people feel better which gives them the motovation to complete the suicide. (Years of training here)

It's also true that not everyone leaves a note. If this were a suicide, wouldn't it be prudent not to leave a note if he wants everyone to think it was an accident?

Was this a suicide? Whos to say now? Could it be a suicide? Absolutly. People are allowed to have their own oppinions.

/off soap box

Yeah man its cool I get what you are saying. But for the record.... if I die from a accidental shooting in my home please dont make any conclusions as to what my motives were off of what a reporter quotes from one of my neighbors.
They dont know shit about me. :haha:

As long as you don't intentionally put it to your head, pull the trigger and.... oops safety didn't work.

I'm not buying into the "Suicide Theory", but he just became a Darwin Award Winner  I'm sure when they were questioning her about this accident, one of his recent mental status would have been tossed in.

His name is Looney, I'm going with a shallow gene pool :haha: I would tend to think, since a girlfriend was involved, there was a hint of cockiness with this one. Being very confident so she wouldn't be afraid of them. Maybe just showing her that unloaded guns don't kill people, loaded ones do. I'm sure she got the message

As long as it's not from pointing the gun at your head and pulling the trigger, it's a deal.

Now, if the dude was stone sober, I think it would have to push the "extremely stupid" or "suicidal" button a little harder.

But with alcohol, anything goes. :lol8: He could have been high on crack too and it just wasn't reported. He could have thought he was holding a Wii controller to his head.

I don't see this as a suicide. Unless this guy had some deep rooted hatred for his girlfriend he would not do this in front of her. He's just a f'n idiot is all.

Poor girlfriend. What a terrible thing to have to witness and have to live with the rest of her life. I doubt that image will ever leave her.

So sad for her.

Hard to feel sorry for the guy though. "Stupid is as stupid does." One less idiot with access to a firearm. Better he do himself in than to accidentally shoot someone else.

Ok I am sorry. I will retract my theory. But to my defense in the last couple weeks our family has endured a second suicide. I think I am jaded and need a slap in the face.

I still think the guy is a canidate for an honorary Darwin award.

And I have thought often of this poor women this week. I can't imagine how horrible that was.

I don't think you need to apologize for an opinion. Nor a retractment unless you really feel it necessary.

And OMG I am so sorry to hear about your loss. I think you need a big ol hug and not a slap in the face!

Suicide is so hard on those left behind. Trying to make sense of it all can be prove to be an impossible task. The anger and guilt we are left with can be unbearable. I wish for you the strength and understanding so that you may find peace with both of these that you have been burdened with.

Here comes a big old bear hug from me to you. http://i723.photobucket.com/albums/ww232/Last-Child/hug.gif
