Way to go Cougs. Some good play and some bad. Bradford's injury was probably the biggest factor. But at least BYU finally stepped up and handled the pressure at the end (except for the dang kicker at the end).

I disagree. They played toe-to-toe with OK even with Bradford in the game. BYU is gonna be tough to beat this year.

It was a great win for not only BYU but for the Mountain West Conf. With the U, the Y and SMU all in the same conference, the Mountain West has gotta get some well deserved credibility this year.

The D did play well. The person I would hate to be right now...#70 on Oklahoma's offensive line. How many penalties did he commit?

BYU's defense has never looked better. That was a great game. If BYU could have gotten things together in the first half for Offense then BYU would have blown them away. It was a well fought match and a great game.

It is always impressive when a 20th ranked team (or unranked) beats a #3 ranked team.

Not a BYU fan, but all credit to them.

It was not Bradford going out that killed OU. They didn't do much with him in the game, 10 points and their only TD a gift with the muffed punt.

Good for the MWC...... Now beat FSU and be undefeated when the Utes come to town.....(not that the Utes will be, but it still makes that game a "Game Day" pick)......

That's what BYU needs to be a top team.

I always root for BYU & Utah to go undefeated. That way the Utes win gets them into a top Bowl Game.

Giving credit, nice game Zoobies

With the U, the Y and SMU all in the same conference, the Mountain West has gotta get some well deserved credibility this year.

When did SMU join the mountain. And I'd disagree with SMU giving credibility. SMU football hasn't been good ever since they served the only NCAA death penalty rule violation.

IMHO TCU who finished in the top 10 last year gives credibility to the MWC.

:roflol: Woops! I meant TCU. TCU was actually ranked higher than the U and the Y by many preseason pundits.

Great win. Shocker. :eek2:

I am going to jump on the wagon with the rest of the BYU fans and say that they are going to run the table and bust up the BSC. Then they will be voted national champions. :2thumbs:

Big cougar fan, don't get me wrong, but I am more inclinded to believe that OU was WAY overrated. That team always lays a golden egg when it matters. Anyhow, the big interest for me is the teams they play that they should massacre. Those are the ones that for some reason BYU struggles with.

Winning a National Championship is much better than getting 2nd place.

So.... are you saying the Coug's are going to win the Mythical National Championship this year? Or are you still living in 1984?

Heck.... I'm probably one of the few members of Bogley who is even old enough to remember BYU's Mythical National Championship ( I was 24).

And let's get real.... until it's settled on the field of battle anyone claiming anything other than a Mythical National Championship is dreaming or delusional... probably both.......

If you were 24 in 1984 then you're old enough to know the difference between myth and reality. Unfortunately you blatantly misused the term mythical, time to hit the books.

Iceaxe

Mythical - existing only in the imagination.

Which is exactly what any championship is that is awarded based on the imagination of the voters.

And just for the record.... I consider Utah's 2nd place just as mythical.....

Nothing like watching BYU beat up a crappy 6-5 Michigan team.... It was the only time since the inception of the AP poll that a team was awarded the national title without beating an opponent ranked in the top 25 at the season's end.

I will say the BCS does a better job of matching up top teams at years end.

The easiest way to get a true playoff is if folks will stop supporting a mythical national champ.

And FYI.... I'm not picking on BYU, or the 84 team. They did awesome with the system that was in place. I'm picking on the BCS and the bowl bullsh*t.

Kent K25

I think fans of all non-BCS school teams can agree on that.

Still not mythical though...it does not exist solely in anyone's imagination. They were awarded the National Title, that's as real as it gets. :2thumbs:

The Cougs and Utes both beat cup cakes this week. Although I have to admit that the Cougs looked better even though I think they played an easier team. The Green Wave offense was friggin' awful. They might just have one of the worse offenses in College Football. BYU racked up some O.

Utah looked terrible and if the same team shows up next week in Oregon their little winning streak will be over. I am going on a motorcycle trip up to Portland and then down the coast to Florence, then over to the game in Eugene on Saturday. I'll be sitting on the 14th row right on the 20. Now the Utes might surprise me and they have a tendency to show up in big games. But I am going to predict that their winning streak is going to come to an end in Oregon.

Thoughts?

My question...are you going loud and proud in a Red Ute shirt? Or a bit more inconspicuous so no fans go all LeGarrette Blount on you?

I always wear a Laker shirt when I go to Laker games in SLC, but that's not much of a risk.

I also work it last season in Portland against the Trailblazers. I was a bit more nervous about that one but they were all surprisingly respectful. Helped that they beat the Lakers though...

I always wear my teams gear..... but I also love bantering with the other fans. 99% of the time it's great fun.... most fans understand its all for grins and giggles....

Honestly.... the worst place to wear Ute gear is to a BYU home game. I don't know if its the heated rivalry or BYU fans don't get out of the bubble enough... but that's about the only place I've had problems. Twice I've had drinks thrown on me and once I had some dumbass who was going to try kicking my ass until security escorted him out. Maybe BYU should allow alcohol to mellow out there fans. :haha:

Only other place I've had any problems was at a SDSU game. My kids were cheering for the Utes as they kicked the Aztec's ass.... the score was something like 40 to nothing.... some dumbass turned around and started to yell at my kids that they need to "shut up.. enough is enough...." I though my hot young wife was going to rip that guy a new asshole.....

But bottomline.... if you wear your team gear you have to be able to take it as well as dish it....

Go Utes!

There must be something in the water there in San Diego. Once when I was a wee lad my parents decided to take all 6 kids and some out-of-town friends to a Dodger-Padres game at Jack Murphy stadium... and we were all wearing Dodger Blue. We sat in left field (with 6 kids, that's where you gotta sit)... and by the third inning we figured out that we should have skipped the game 'cause the rowdy Padres fans dumped beer on us in a display of misplaced frustration with their own sucky team.

We weren't mouthing off. We were just rooting for the Dodgers. I remember my dad complaining, but nobody was kicked out. We stuck it out though. 'Cause my dad didn't believe in 1) walking away from anything or 2) not getting what you paid for (even if you paid to sit in Hell for 3 hours.)

The Mountain West looked really bad this weekend. Sad.

Florida State looked impressive. For the first time in one of these big losses it didn't look like Max Hall fell apart. He had good numbers and threw the ball well-- but when you look at BYU's time of possession compared to FSU's you see why the Y never made a threat. BYU's D was terrible. FSU threw and ran at will. What happened? Where was the D that showed up for the Oklahome game?

The sad thing was that Utah lost to Oregon, and Oregon didn't even look like they were playing well.

BYU was beaten like a red headed step child.... they still have no speed in there secondary....

The Utah game came out about like I expected.... both the Utes and Ducks have been playing ugly football and the game was just a continuation... I felt that game could go either way right up to the final gun. Utah's play calling sucks.... no flow.... but I expected that this year from a guy who has never called a game before. The guy did a better job than Ludwig did his first year.....

I'd love to know why Utah didn't run their wildcat in a couple short yardage situations.... like at the end of the half.... Actually I bet I can tell you why... the Ute's didn't know if Asiata was going to play and didn't have it listed on their play charts... I've made this mistake before when calling a youth game as the OC.

Sorry, we Cougar fans have jobs... :bootyshake: :roflol: Not much to say about the woopin' we got at the hands of FSU. We got spanked, plain and simple. I frankly would hate to be Colo. State this week. I think the cougs will be out for a little redemption. Actually, I have to hand it to FSU. They have a heck of a QB and pretty darn good offense. Had BYU been able to hang on to the ball and had no turnovers, that game would have been a last team to have the ball kind of game . It was nuts. No punts by either team in the first half???

The worst part about winning the MWC is you have to go play in a meaningless bowl nobody is watching against a 6-5 team nobody cares about. The MWC bowl ties suck!
