False analogy. If not for all that inflation, I'd be making a whole lot less money.
Some figures based on a very brief, cursory look into stats:
2006 Median Family Income:

1947 Median Family Income:
$3,031
Now lets look at those same years in 2006 dollars - i.e. adjusted for inflation.
