Since my oldest son and niece were starting their first day of school, I decided to stay home so I could take them to school, be available for them (if anything came up) and pick them up from school. The first day of High School can be quite stressful.

During the interim hours, I packed up the ATV and drove to Bountiful, parking by the "B" and unloaded.

Temperature was still in the mid-60's but comfortable.

Instead of taking the main "road" to the top, I proceeded directly East via the USFS 138 Trail. What a rutty, off-camber ride that trail is. Mid-trail, I stopped to place a geocache (camo'd ammo can) before proceeding to the top.

From the top, I turned right to explore as much trail as I could to the South. At the Great Western Trail head, most of that area is now fenced off. It was obvious why -- some how, trucks (I have no idea how they made it down there) have rutted up the area quite badly, creating bogs and mud holes in an area that used to be a quiet meadow.

From there, I dropped down to the Farmington Flats camp ground area to explore trails in that area. If you continue through the camp ground, there are several trails that continue to take you quite a ways South and East. I easily spent 2 hours riding all the side trails.

Of course the view and weather was spectacular:

I rode back up and now proceeded to ride North, well past the FAA radar station and to the ponds. Many interesting trails and areas in this area.

All in all, a great ~65 miles of riding and exploring.

I kept a Garmin track log in case anybody is interested.
