Went backpacking with the wife, daughter and dog in the Uinta's this past weekend. Good news is last weeks snow storm got rid of all the bugs. Bad news is most the wild flowers are also gone.
It's really nice up there right now with no bugs and moderate tempatures.

Some pics to keep you entertained....

awesome! I can't wait until my kids are old enough to backpack.
On a side note. What brand are those pants. I have a hard time finding zip offs that aren't short shorts.

Not sure about the pants. My wife bought them for me at Recreation Outlet in SLC.
We took our kids backpacking not long after they learned to walk. We just went a short distance. Lots of lakes just off the Mirror Lake highway work great for kiddy backpacking.

I just picked up a pair like these @ Rec Outlet in AF. They are Destination 10,000 feet above sea level. When they zip off they are still knee length. So far I like them. Worth every one of the 1,199 pennies I shelled out for them.
One drawback is the pockets are big but the opening is 1/2 as big as width of pocket. Maybe that's to keep stuff from falling out but it is a pain to get my meat hooks into.

I must say, that is a VERY big dog.
And I must ask: were your pants ironed for your trip? :ne_nau:

Ice how did you get your wife backpacking? I thought you posted earlier that you had to get a hotel room for your wife when exploring areas in Cedar Mesa.

Good stuff.
Nice pic - :2thumbs:
The entire time I was hiking up there this weekend I was having regrets for not backpacking. The lack of mosquitoes was a welcome change compared to a few weeks ago, I hope to a few more trips before the snow starts to stick around.

Pants and shirt were both ironed. :2thumbs:
I pay my daughter (Sierra) a $1 an item to iron my clothes.... I have never been dressed so fine in all my life.

It's not just my wife who prefers to stay in a motel. Sex in a bed with clean sheets beats sex in a smelly ol' fart sack everytime. :bootyshake:
My wife can handle one or two backpack trips each year.... We always do one Uinta trip and usually a Buckskin Gulch or something.
