northern nevada is surprisingly wet. giving the map a once over there are springs, hot & cold, littered throughout the valleys between the numerous & scenic ranges. makes for a lot of greenery and wildlife. there is a lot of pre-history present in northern nevada as well. sites dating back 10-12K years. pretty cool. we hiked along stoneberger creek, for as long as we could keep flesh on our shins,

then started climbing up towards white rock mountain.

there were lots of sage gardens along the way that still had numerous flowers blooming, but it was too late for the really good show. earlier in spring i am sure it would be spectacular.

and we passed thru a number of aspen stands that litter the slopes and would make really nice fall viewing, as well as stands of pinon and juniper where the antelope relax judging from all teh poop.
