We are officially in production mode for the building of this bike park.
Nat and Rachel Lopes, owners of Hilride Development are the go to people in the development of our little park. They are the ones who designed/built Woodward in Fresno, Schweitzer MTBPark in SandPoint, ID. and Prementura, Croatia to name a few.

Just had a committee meeting tonight with the city parks & rec and Hilride to go over materials lists and dates to start breaking ground. We start moving dirt this week and next week our bikeclub is heading to the mountains to get logs for the elevated trail section. The City is bringing in a crapload of rocks for shelves & drops for the elevated sections as well. :2thumbs:

snapped a few pics prebuild start. Had a bunch of 'cleanup' of sagebrush and landfill dumping, then started bringing in some big rocks for the elevated trail sections as well as big logs for the elevated sections.

First day of the build was incredible! We got about a dozen ladders built, tons of rocks and big logs placed in the elevated trail, and started the jump track! We will have many pictures in a day or two. Tonight was the club ride - we took Nat and Rachael Lopes out on Lunatic Fringe. We'll have pics soon - they both said with the land we have here we could host RedBull style rides here!

Saturday was another big build day. Many more ladders and log rides with rock features in the mix. Sunday - not as many people but still had 30 or so. AWESOME weekend! :five:

:2thumbs: the pump track is nearly rideable now, needs a bit of water & tamping down but it pumps. Someone worked on the elevated traail today and added some planks to the ladders, and some more dirt work was done...we are waiting for more dirt to arrive but the main drop hill is COOL!! You'll be able to get some serious air with the speed you generate and the berms will shoot you through as well. We will start laying the beginner sections later but as you can see a few of them are built already. The next builder weekend is Oct. 9th, 10th and 11th when Nat and Rachael Lopes will be back. We will pass around fliers earlier this time and hopefully we'll have somewhat decent weather.
....in the meantime, I will be hitting up sponsors during INTERBIKE and promoting the CRAP out of this park at the show! :cool2:

This weekend we just had a photographer from Colorado Outdoor Mag come and spend the weekend with our bikeclub riding trails and the bikepark. Took LOTS of pics. Article is due out in the spring so I'll have to post info when I get it. We had about a dozen of our hardcore club members riding so we did alot of techy stuff...jumping, wallriding & stuff. SO fun!

Any chance of you guys coming down here & building?

SURE - we'll be right down (..not..) :haha:
...seriously, we got $20,000 in grant money and 3.75 or so acres donated by the City for this park - plus, we have put in over 20,000 volunteer hours so far with more than 10,000 more hours to come in the next builder weekend in April. I think we are married to this thing :haha:
BUT...it SERIOUSLY ROCKS!!!!

I was hoping that it would open sooner. I am going to be in Fort Bridger on May 26 and was going to sneak over there to ride. I will have to ride one of your other great trails. Next time I am out there I will have to hit it.
Is there any other trails close to Fort Bridger that I can hit. Probably can only get away one day to go Green River.
Thanks

friday we added yet another two logrides in the beginner section...for people to get the feel of riding a log for a short distance. OH, and ten times around the pump track is almost a mile...if you can last that long. My limit so far is 4 times around without stopping or pedaling. Talk about exhausting!

Mike and crew had a great time riding the park and several trails. We had a bigger turnout than we had anticipated - over 400 people! Awesome turnout and only a few casualties but we got lots of press from media all over the state and surrounding states. THEN about an hour afterwards we were on the road for Canada, in fact, as we speak I am in Edmonton AB at the library using the computer because my laptop blew a rod in Calgary(dammit). SO, tomorrow we are spending the day at the west edmonton mall and then heading to Jasper PP & Banff PP(provinvial park). :fitz:

Got back late sat pm but we came down through Golden and stayed the night in Cranbrook BC - in the heart of biking country in the pouring rain so we couldnt ride - damn. At least I have a little better idea where yo go back and ride! We saw several bikeparks that made me drool but now I have my very own to ride - gotta get out there today and ride it too!
