Took a quick trip up to Gobblers Knob this morning. It was perfect hiking weather. 54 degrees in SLC and cooler up there. There was frost on some of the plants. Started hiking from the Alexander Basin TH in Millcreek Canyon at 8:10am, got to the top at 10 to 10am. Explored a bit at the top and went over to another point to the South. On the way down I spent a good amount of time taking photos (probably an hour total for the whole trip) as the wildflowers were still out and healthy. We got back down just after 12:10pm for a total of about 4 hours. Definitely good to go early. We were the only ones up at the top (saw one person in the early morn but he passed us going down). On the way down we saw about 25 people coming up and it was heating up a bit. A steep trail in the beginning and the end with a brief respite (just less steep) in the middle. Overall, one of my favorites in Millcreek for the diversity. You get steeps, aspen groves, Alexander Basin is beautiful, Gobblers Knob is a prominent peak. 2.5 miles (5 RT), 3100 feet.
