On July 8th, on my 50th birthday, I hiked to Duck Lake. It was a beautiful day, the trail was easy, and I saw no people on the way in (I began hiking at 7:30 a.m.), and saw nobody at all until I was on the way out. I tried to find the trail to Fire Lake that is shown on some of the maps as going around the southern end of Duck, but I couldn't find the trail. I also fished for about 40 minutes, but got no bites, although I saw some fish surface near the shore and could see them swimming around in the shallows. I think if I would've gotten there earlier, the fishing may have been better--usually things slow down in the late morning to late afternoon--at least that's been my experience. Anyway, here are some pictures.
