I have noticed on the online Zion Permits page the use limits of some of the canyons has been raised from 6 to 14 starting in September?

Does anyone know?
They seem to be the canyons that rarely see the limits reached, except on busy weekends...

Yes, someone does know. That would be Annette at the Zion Backcountry Desk - 435-772-0170. Why don't you give her a call and find out what the story is. Reporting back here would be even better.

Spoke with the back country desk (sorry Annette was not in). It is to do with the owls and there breeding season. The use limits go up between September and February when the young owls are able to fly away from all the "new" canyoneers.
