With this lovely weather we've had and my crazy work/life schedule I can't get to the hills much - so I ride the paved trail of hell. Anyhow - just thinking about putting some slicks on my bike and ride.

Anyone do this?

Thanks!

I've put some semi-slicks on my bike. The problem was, I couldn't be bothered to change them back when I wanted to ride a trail so I kept them on and suffered. :haha:

I actually didn't feel like they improved my ride on the road though, personally I wouldn't do it again.

I have been riding the pavement a bunch this spring on my mtn. bike with slicks. Since I ride UST on the dirt I didn't want to keep changing tires since it's a pain so I bought a cheaper wheelset and mounted the narrowest slicks I could on them. For me it's made a huge difference. I can go so much faster on the road with slicks. Slicks have made pavement riding bearable! Riding the road is the best way to build your aerobic base to prepare for riding dirt. I just did a 41 mile road ride this morning while visiting the inlaws in the Preston/Dayton, Idaho area.

Definitely have a spare wheelset for road tires and a set for MTB tires. Much faster to change out. You can get a spare set for around $100 or so. Worth it to me

Thanks for the suggestions - but now I'm toying with the idea of buying a road bike. I just need to quit over analyzing every bike I ride/read about and buy one.
