Found this guy roaming by millsite.
Pretty calm but we still kept our distance.

According to Utah state regs, you're not allowed to hunt for rattlesnakes, but if you feel threatened by one, you're allowed to kill it, at which point what you do with it is your business. I do love the taste of rattlesnake... That one there looks awful threatening to me. :haha:

For real!?!? How do you cook and season it?

Who on earth would hunt for them or even LOOK for them?

Rattlesnake is really good. I think Texas does it too, but I know that OK has a rattler roundup every year. If you want a taste, Rodizio's in SLC has rattlesnake sausage on the menu in Feb-Apr, I believe. :2thumbs:

I've had it before, but didn't prepare it. Now I'm wondering about the poison. How do you go about field stripping the meat? Are there poison related cautions (other than not putting your hand in it's mouth) that you have to worry about?

Just make sure its head is missing. :2thumbs:

Rattlesnakes are venomous, not poisonous. The difference is a poisonous animal is not edible at all...it will make you sick or even kill you if you eat it. Venomous animals can be eaten as their meat does not contain any poison. Just cut the head off and have at it!
