my new 'toy'. 06 Dodge Ram 1500 SLT CrewCab BigHorn edition. If I feed him a regular diet of hauling my trailers and bikes around it will be sure to be a happy dog :haha:

Nope, that's mine in the pic. The one I posted with the dual stacks wasn't mine. I remember the truck, cannot remember why I posted that one. I'll be going to a single stack, very shortly :haha:

3500 diesel.
I have the Cummins as well :2thumbs: :2thumbs: I'm not worried about parts at all. And if it's the engine, it's all Cummins which is still going strong :haha:

In don't think I would own a dodge truck without a cummins there the best but if i had a dodge car it would have a hemi unless i could fit a cummins into it then i would hace an old charger with a cummins it would be fast.
actually im looking for a cummins 2500 engine or a diesel out of a 80's toyota to put in my truck.

Don't you need to keep that Jeep to tool around in? Didn't you just put that lift on it a couple years ago and some odds and ends. :ne_nau:

The two engines aren't even on the same plane :haha: (Toy and Cummins)

2500? All the Dodge diesel pickups came with the Cummins 6BT either 12V, 24 valve or the 24 valve Common Rail. The 2500 (3/4 Ton) and the 3500 (1 Ton) There was an earlier diesel for them, not made by Cummins. I believe it was the Barreiros Diesel.

Cummins made a 4BT which is a 4 cylinder which has been a choice to put in things like Jap pickups, Jeeps, etc. The 6BT is one heavy engine.

I too just bought a new truck. Kept the Durango (saving it for my oldest), and bought a 2008 Ram 2500 6.7L i6 Turbo Diesel (Bluetec, BigHorn Edition).

The more it tows and the harder it works, the better the MPG/mileage.

Your going to be happy with it. If I was buying now I would get the 2500 instead of the 3500 I have. The mileage is better on the 2500 because of the gear ratio's. I have 73,000 miles on mine and am now getting about 18 MPG with no trailer. When new it was around 13-14 MPG but it is still improving. Diesel engine still breaking in?

2008 Ram 2500 6.7L i6 Turbo Diesel (Bluetec, BigHorn Edition).
Another Cummins owner :2thumbs:  The 6.7's have a lot of emissions going on with them and it's hard for those to make the mileage the 5.9's are doing. But, still a great engine and a lot of aftermarket stuff is being produced as I type for those bad boys  Good luck with it :2thumbs:

And :haha:

I've read quite a bit about disconnecting the EGR, installing a "delete" resolving most emissions related issues (soot build up in the turbo, etc).

Just realized I "stepped" on your thread, GHB. Great looking truck. What were you driving before the Ram?

Any plans for mods?

I've picked up a subscription to Diesel Tech magazine (I think its a Utah publication) and it has lots of great performance tips.

Actually I still have my 'old' Dodge. 88 Ram 150LE shortbed. I put a 4" lift and 33" BFG's and an Edlebrock carb- thats it. The thing has over 200K on the odometer and still drives :ne_nau: It's for sale right now.

...I didnt get a diesel 'cause I really don't need to pull a huge trailer around. That, and mine is QUIET.
