I am looking to buy another rope. There was a post a few months ago about Tom's 8.3 mm. new rope. Since then I see Tom has it on his site. Has anyone been using it and if you have what is your opinion? For those that have been using it can you tell any difference rappeling on the 8.3 vs 9?
Tom,
Are you planning on coming out with this new rope in 9 mm? With the stronger sheath are you reccomending the new rope over the 9mm? Inquiring minds want to know, ok maybe just me.

Would love to test out a piece of this new rope.....
Also curious if anyone has used it enough to figure out it's characteristics.

I would like to know too. Kind of wish I had this one over the Imlay 8mm. I like the dark and bright colors. Good for pictures.
Mark are you gong to be using this for the scouts and noobs or yourself and experienced friends. I think it would be fine for you and your experienced friends. Be cautious using such a small rope with noobs. Think I remember you writing that the scouts don't weigh much, so maybe not so much an issue.

The 8.3 is meant as a replacement for the 8.0mm, but I'll keep the 8 around for those who like it. It is still a skinny rope, just not anorexic-skinny.
