28 years ago when I was home for a weekend a man came stumbling into my parents home, drunk and acting stupid.

I had known him as a kid, he was my EMT mentor and sponsor so this bothered me.

After he left I went to his home and told him I was worried about him. He admitted he was suppose to be at an AA meeting that evening but had no way to get there, about 60 miles away.

I loaded him up and delivered him to his sponsor, never gave it another thought, I was headed that direction anyway. I have not seen him since.

Yesterday at my fathers funeral he told me I had saved his life. He told me he had not had a drink since, remarried, held a job and retired to enjoy his grandchildren.

Sometimes its the small gestures that matter.

Amazing story. Especially the timing of it. It was small to you at the time but not for him. :2thumbs:

Cool story Redman.....also a nice reminder of the effect our decisions have on others.

What a nice way to bring a bit of sunshine into a difficult day.

I do believe in paying it forward.

Take care of your family and yourself.
