My Father was found dead Tuesday morning, died in his sleep.
He was just 70 and had no major medical problems. We are stunned.

Was planning to visit this next weekend.
Never got a chance to say "I love you Dad".

Just a reminder, they can go at any time.

So sorry to hear it, RedMan. There is no easy way - sudden and unexpected, or long and lingering, any way is awful; I lost a parent each way. I wish you peace, for you and yours. And you're right - you never know when it will end, so make the most of the time you have.

I'm sorry to hear that, RedMan. With my father getting older now, being my best friend, and yet living a thousand miles away, it's hard when I play out your scenario in my mind.

Hang in there, Red.

Your words are very true, RedMan. I'm sorry for your loss.

It's not always easy to tell them you love them either, even if you both know it.

My deepest condolences on your loss.

Thanks for posting and sharing with us as well. It's well timed for me as I'm taking off tomorrow to drive down to SoCal to visit my parents. I was just grousing during my carpool ride home about having to go down there. Now I feel I should count my blessings and be sure to tell them I love them as you suggest.

Thanks everyone. Spent the whole day scanning photos and trying to make a video for the memorial.

Its really hard to relive your life.

But if one more well wisher makes my mother repeat the story I'm going to start smashing pumpkins.

Oh man, I'm sorry for your loss!
The times one might have said, or not said "I love you" means a lot to the people left behind, but your visits to your dad and your actions speak to the heart, not the ears. No words could ever count for as much as the time you spent with him.

There's a saying "the smallest deed is better than the grandest intention", and it's true.

God bless you all as you remember the time you shared together.
A precious thing for sure!

Sorry to hear of your loss Redman. My Dad just visited me this year again from the midwest and I keep realizing how special parents are.

My sincere condolences to you and your family. My father was taken from us suddenly as well and I too felt badly about not having that final goodbye. But I chose to focus on all the good times and happy memories. It's been many years and thinking about him can still bring tears to my eyes, but it can also make me laugh. He was one of a kind as are all Dads. :2thumbs:

You Dad's not gone, Redman.... Just gone ahead. Be grateful for the 70 years you had with him! I'm sure you have many, many, great memories of time spent with him. Keep those in your heart & mind, and he'll always be with you.

God bless!
