Since my wife has has been put on bed rest for the next month in hope she will stabilize and stop being so sick. I have gotten most of the next month off, well not really I am watching the kids and trying to keep them entertained so mama can get the rest she needs.
I have been trying to find stuff for the kids to do and the other day we went and just did a bunch of window shopping what a disaster, I was ready to put them both in a bucket of water with their hands tied behind their back. Then yesterday we went to a friends house in Tooele and that went well. The kids had a blast. So today I tried something new we went to the rock wall in Ogden my youngest (20 months) was not able to do much but play on the bouldering mats, but my eldest ( 4 on June 10th) got to climb. He was wiling to go about halfway up the wall before he decided that he wanted down I got him to climb about 5 times before he decided he wanted to stop. I even tried to bribe him to climb to the top by telling him that there was a free pass to the McDonalds for a kids meal and a afternoon in the play place it did not work but we did have fun until he decided he did not have to listen and pulled the top rope and got the figure eight knot stuck at the top that was when we were done because I am trying to get him to understand that there a consequences to his actions. Here are a few pics of him having a ball on the climbing wall.
By the way if you have any ideas to keep the little ones entertained in the Ogden Layton area please pipe up.

I'm really sorry to hear that your wife is bed ridden but I love that you are making the most of it. A couple of things that I might suggest are the following:

Antelope Island (kids love all those Bison)

Hill Air Force Museum

Geocaching is always a great activity (if you have a GPS unit).

Sorry to hear about your wife. Kids can be a handful. I have two boys and a baby girl.

Waterfall canyon is up north: http://www.bogley.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=16712 or http://www.bogley.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=2561

Adams is nice too but maybe too much of a hike for kids? http://www.bogley.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=3587

Here are some other ideas: http://www.bogley.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=652

hope your wife gets well soon. for your sanity if nothing else. as someone who has done the mister mom for a bit i can say that trying to teach a 4 yr. old about consequences is a bit like trying to teach a snake to sit. won't happen. at least not for another year or two. there 3 things in a 4 yr. olds life right now. poop, play and eat. the rest is just a blur.

keep it simple. take them to the park. kids love to swing. the zoo if one is nearby. books are always good. play dates with other kids. boys are into trains and planes. just go to the airport and watch the jets come in. bike rides or maybe a scooter. legos were always a hit at my house.

have fun. :2thumbs: and if i was your wife i'd milk the bed rest as long as i could. :haha:
