A Cincinnati woman died Sunday after she hit a tree while skiing with her children at The Canyons Resort for the closing day of the season.
Edda Gunning, 46, was skiing alongside the Painted Horse terrain park about noon when she hit a tree, said Summit County sheriff's Detective Ron Bridge.
"She was paralleling her children, trying to keep an eye on them," Bridge said.
She was unresponsive when medics arrived at the park, Bridge said. She was flown to University Hospital, where she was pronounced dead about 1:30 p.m., Bridge said.
Officials at The Canyons could not be reached for comment.
