WOW I just heard the news.... Kathryn Miller Hess is dead. For those who don't know she spent her summers in Moab guiding canyons and climbs for Jackson Hole Mountain Guides.
Hess remembered for her love of adventure, broad smile
Kathryn Miller Hess, a Jackson Hole Ski Patroller and Jackson Hole Mountain Guide, died Tuesday morning after succumbing to a head injury from a ski accident last Friday. She was 42.
The following message was posted on a website created for friends and family members to follow her progress:
Dear family and friends,
Kathryn has moved onto her next journey. She was officially pronounced dead at 9:00 am Tuesday morning. Her body is now in the hands of the organ transplant team. We have been told her body might be improving or saving the lives of 50 people. We will miss her dearly.
A memorial gathering will take place Sunday March 22, 2009 at the Jackson Hole Mountain Resort. Family and dear friends are invited to board the gondola starting at 5 pm to reach the Couloir Restaurant. No skis will be allowed as the mountain is closed at that time. All guests will be expected to ride the gondola down by 10 pm.
