I have some movies downloaded on my computer and would like to burn them to a dvd. What is the best software for this?

The only way I know how to burn DVDs is to throw them in a fire.

I do a lot of DVD burning of movies that I've downloaded (just watched Gran Torino last night). I like Nero 7 and Convert X to DVD. Both are available (for free) at the same sites that your movies were.
Convert X to DVD is great for movies that are more than what may fit on your standard 120 minute/4.7 GB disc. It will actually compress them to fit on a single disc with very little loss in picture quality (I don't even notice it). In fact, I used this software for the movie Australia the other day and it turned out great.

I just used Disco's software. It did burn a dvd, but it won't play on my Blu-Ray or other standard dvd player. It will however play on my computer.

On the blu-ray the message is "Data Disc"
I went under multi-media, then create DVD video.

What am I missing?

DVD shrink can copy most DVDs and then you use another program like Burnaware to create the DVDs

Do you already have the video in like a AVI format or something?

Yes, it is in AVI.

ya thats the problem... it's AVI. meaning that it grabs codec from you computer to play the video and sound. some DVD players have that ability but most do not.

I use Oxelon Media Converter" to change it to a dvd file. (i.e., .Vob file) the other easier program that would do this is "WinAVI video converter" you may have to get a crack for the serial but if you downloading stuff off limewire you know how this works.

also I would like to say that limewire is minor league. you need to step up to the pros. :lol8:

Oldno, understand this can be a pretty open ended questions depending on how the file was originally encoded. Not trying to be a smart ass but its kinda like saying how do I go Canyonerring in Utah?
:haha:

I understand this may not be an option for you ... I got so sick of ripping, converting, ect. ect.,,,, now I just connect my computers to my TV's. Download it, play it, and delete it :2thumbs:

that means that it's just a trial program and you would have to buy it in order for it to remove the watermark.... buy it or crack it. :naughty:

If I am going to copy a DVD I use DVD Shrink.

If I need to create a DVD from an AVI file I use WinAvi

Yeah, I primarily use www.mininova.org and www.isohunt.com. You can download movies, audio, software, games, books, etc. on both of these site without having to be a member or even sign in. Typically a movie takes around 1 1/2 - 2 hours to download and full music albums take around 15 minutes or less depending on the number of seeds. Keep in mind that you'll also need to have a bit-torrent or utorrent program to download into. If you're unfamiliar with these, just google 'em. Oh, and yes, their free as well.

Oh yeah, as far as the water mark is concerned; I assume that's for the trial program. If you download it off of one of the above sites, it will be the full program- not the trial. Just check the comments left by other users. I wouldn't bother with anything that doesn't already have some positive feedback.

I had a 360 and didn't really enjoy it that much. I still have my old regular xbox which I modded like 7 years ago and I use it for streaming. The Xbox Media Center (XBMC) is the best streaming program ever! I sold the 360 and got a PS3 and I have loved the PS3.

I agree. I rarely burn any type of disc anymore, unless it's software.

just checked out the movie I loaded to my Ipod from burning my copy of Aeon Flux to the laptop to Itunes using the software Disco suggested. The watermark only comes up in the opening credits & then its gone. I'm burning Batman Returns as we speak. :2thumbs:
......oops I lied....I just checked and it comes up several times during the movie. :ne_nau:
