Succesfully bike all the way to the top of Ben Lomond Peak from North Fork and make it back down with out falling off my bike. :lol8:

Take the kids camping at least 4 times this summer, and go on several hikes with them. Haven't exactly decided yet where, leave that to the moment.

And make a trip to property we have in Duchesne. Been a long time since I have camped down there. It is time to go!

mtnman: Sounds like a great list of objectives. Mine aren't nearly as exhausting (IMHO). I hope to accomplish at least a subset of:

- ATV/Camp from Monroe to Otter Creek Reservoir
- ATV/Camp (again) from Fillmore to Richfield
- Hike and camp atop Lone Peak Wilderness
- Summit Lewiston Peak and walk that entire ridge line
- Participate in at least 3 x 5K races (ankle and old body willing)
- Get in at least 2-3 more free fall sky dives
- Get in some king salmon fishing in either WA state or AK.

Ride my mountain bike as much as I can and take my kids and wife hiking more. I'm also going to get a new camera and do as much shooting as I possibly can.

Wouldn't mind having some more free time too. :haha:

blueeyes, maybe I'll meet up with you for that ride to Ben Lomond. I want to do a big loop from Brigham to Mantua to Liberty to Ben Lomond to Willard Basin to Perry to Brigham. Should hurt a lot, but it's totally worth it.

Last summer, I rode from my house in Brigham to inspiration point and back down Perry Canyon and back to Brigham. It took my brother-in-law and I just over 6 hours (riding time) to do it. I'm thinking that the bigger loop would take 2 or 3 hours more than that. I wouldn't try it as a first time real long ride, but you could definately do portions of it. Last summer I took Last Child on part of the route that I want to do. He made a video of it and posted it on here somewhere. If you are going to ride to Ben Lomond (well, some of it anyway, it's really steep) I could definately plan to meet you at the trailhead there.

As many Zion/Escalante/North Wash canyons as I can do from April 25 - May 3.
Finally hit some local (Vancouver area) canyons this summer.
Do my best to get out for weekly hikes (and short overnighters) this summer.
I have 11 days off in August. The whole family is making no plans for it and waiting for a last minute deal - we're saving up, and hoping to hit London and Paris, or some other European destination.
I hope to get most of October off, and hit southern Utah again. Probably a couple of longer backpacks this time.
I'm totally committing to making FreezeFest this year. Haven't managed to get all the time off, yet, and it might be tough to convince people to work New Years Eve and Day for me - but I'm working on it!
Get the kids to a) some concerts, and b) some camping. They both want to do more hiking this year, too.
Lose the 10 pounds I regained this winter, and lose 10 more after that.

I hear you! I got the new bike last fall and only got to ride it a couple of times due to surgery and the like. It still has not been on a real trail ride. I'm so dying to get out on it. Been thinking about a trip to Stansbury one of these upcoming Saturdays if you's interested? Never been there.

As far as my plans for 2009....

Hopefully keep the business a float.
Get some of my yard graded/in. Uuuggghhh!
Ski as much as possible and try out a resort I have never skied.
I would like to get out and try some cross country skiing.
Mt. Bike as much as possible - hopefully a trip to Moab or Fruita or at least try out some new "local" trails.
Help Stan out with finishing the Perry Canyon trail to Grizzley Peak.
Get out fishing a few times. Haven't been in a couple of years.
Try to Mellow Down Easy some....

Ok I will repent... wax all three pairs of skis (just so ya know this takes me forever.... i just learned how) tonight and go skiing tomorrow. :2thumbs:

I just read all these trip reports and see pics of Southern Utah and other places and I am dying to go camping. TWO long years since I have been. I have made up my mind... even if it means going by myself out into the middle of nowhere I am going to our prop in Duchesne this summer. I have not been down there since Sarah was 3 months old. Go teach my kids how to catch lizzards. If I bat my blue eyes I can probably get my Dad to go with me. :lol8:

Probably  but I won't just take anyone down there. The Prop (as we call it) is special to me. Many many good memories growing up. You have to love lizzards, cactus, and juniper trees and going on long walk abouts. And on these walks you have to be creative and see faces and other things in the rocks.

Yeah, all this warm weather reporting is making it tough. I also am right now looking at some Robins in the trees across the street. Yesterday I saw three Morning Doves? Must mean spring is already here? :snowguy:

REALLY learn how to ski in powder (making progress!!)
Bike more... bike more with Blueeyessmiling!!
Finish in the top one third of my first real triathlon.
Grand Wash backpacking
A week in Cour d'Alene for Ironman
2 weeks in Europe with my sister
7-10 days in the San Juan Islands
Next December in Mexico to experience the monarch butterfly migration....

Of course the two summer trips will totally depend on whether or not I find a job before then - the funding for the one I have now will be gone next year...

Teach my son and wife how to spot a car over obstacles.

Spend a week in The Maze (very soon!)

Lead my son's Scout troop on their first "50 miler" backpacking trip. Looking like it will be in Sequoia NP. Try hard to have at least some of them actually want to go on another one with me.

Get the scouts in shape with some shorter backpacking trips in the local mountains. Make them kiddies carry heavy packs to toughen 'em up...heh heh.

Luck out this year and get in to the NYC Marathon, then train and finish it and eat some great Jewish and Italian food.

Get a few more ski days in this winter.

Finally replace my old SLR with a DSLR.

Schedule in at least one easy car-camping & fishing trip in the Sierras in the late summer

Have a drink in the bar at the Awanhee after doing some kind of hike in Yosemite

Do more birding than last year.
