Beta on Black Steer Canyon, anybody???

I'm looking for for beta from anyone who has done or knows anything about Black Steer Canyon (near Dark Canyon Wilderness/Privitive Area).

Got to the sphincter tightening BIG drop late in the day in October, but didn't have daylight to finish.

If you are looking for the ropeless way down Black Steer and to Dark Canyon, then the easiest route is to head to the northwest point of Black Steer Point and to come down near the finger that heads south of the point. A rugged route will get you down to the canyon floor in Black Steer Canyon and thus to Dark Canyon.

You can also get to the descent route by bypassing the first drops in Black Steer on the right and then following the bench on the east side of the drainage all the way around to the descent route mentioned above.

Both routes are very rugged.

If you are hoping to descend Black Steer directly and with ropes then I have no beta on that, but if you go, let us know how it turns out! :wink:
